Kickstarter passed $1 billion in pledges on Monday, more than half of which was pledged within the past year alone.
More than 5.7 million people have backed creative projects on the crowdfunding site, from 224 countries and territories on all seven continents. Kickstarter backers in the U.S. take the cake for most money pledged — a grand total of $663.32 million. The UK takes the next spot with $54.43 million, followed by Canada with $44.91 million.
