Kung Fury, by Laser Unicorns has just been released and is one of the fastest growing projects on Kickstarter. Within the past three days, Kung Fury has shattered its pledge goal of $200,000 and currently stands at over $325,000 with 26 days to go!

Kung Fury is truly a project that is one of its kind. It’s an over the top cop action comedy laced with the 80’s mantra of cheesy dialog and 8 bit computer graphics. Written by David Sandberg, this film seems to show the characteristics of an established cult following.

“The film includes arcade-robots, dinosaurs, Nazis, Vikings, nose gods, mutants and some serious Kung fu, all wrapped up in an 80s style action packed adventure.”

Kung Fury is centered around an ex-kung fu cop named Kung Fury. After a drastic falling out with the police force, King Fury seeks to avenge his assassinated friend by taking down the most feared kung fu master of all time Adolf Hitler. Yes Adolf “Kung Führer” Hilter. With rage, revenge, and the art of kung fu on his side, Kung Fury decides to travel back in time to Nazi Germany in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire. Along the way he builds relationships with Norse gods and creates his own arsenal of friends to take down Hitler. How can you not get stoked?

This project was started over a year ago and seeks to bridge the gap between the traditional 80’s cop flicks, that are almost as timeless as they are cheesy, and the modern day special effects action that is sweeping through Hollywood.

If successful (it already is) director David Sandberg will release 30 minute of the film online for free.

“We want everybody to be able to watch and enjoy this film. It is our dream to be able to expand this into a full feature film. And if we were to exceed our kickstarter goal that something we want to look into.”

It certainly seems like they are on the right track.

Please watch the trailer to Kung Fury and be apart of this groundbreaking project.
